Beware of Online Furniture Orders!

Howards Interiors has been in business in Stuart, FL for 29 years, primarily because of one thing, customer service. We don't advertise, we rely on the fact that 99% of our customers have such a positive experience, they recommend us to their friends and neighbors.

When people try to save money ordering their furniture on line, they forget that Customer Service does not follow the delivery to their door! They don't install it, inspect it for damages, or repair minor issues. I'm sure these companies have return policies, but that is a little inconvenient. We never deliver furniture unless it is thoroughly inspected and deemed in perfect condition. We deal directly with the manufacturers, with whom we have long term relationships.

Lately, due to the economy and the depressed nature of the furniture business as a whole, we have noticed a dramatic increase in damaged merchandise coming off our trucks. Even high end furniture manufacturers can't afford to stock as much as they used to and need to find ways to cut corners, so it appears that a good deal of the time, they will repair damaged or returned furniture, not replace it. We will not deliver these items to our customers, and sometimes things have to be sent back two and three times! I'm sure many of these damaged articles end up in the hands of their online customers.

Please keep this in mind when ordering online. "Let the Buyer Beware" has never been more true.

Sherry Matakaetis, Back to Howards Interiors!

Sherry Matakaetis is back from an extended leave of absence from Howards Interiors. For 20 years she has created unique and individual homes here on the Treasure Coast of Florida. Just recently she finished a model and club house for the new luxurious condominium complex, Berk's Landing, located on the Saint Lucie River where Francis Langford's Outrigger Resort used to be. Discovered Kohl's Today!

Like most of my friends and family, I've always shopped at the larger department stores like Macy's, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Marshall Fields, and a lot that have been swallowed up by the big boys. This year, in tiny little Stuart, FL, I have discovered stores like Kohl's and Steinmart. I avoided those stores like the plaque, because after feeling like cattle at a rummage sale at Marshalls, I'd rather wait for a bargain at my favorite stores.

And, of course, I'm shopping for my new grandchild, so I had a ball. If you too are a grandparent who misses any and all contact with your perfect grand baby, go to http://www.grandparentgames.com/. Grand parenting will take on a whole new meaning when you can interact with the object of your affection from across the world!

Adult Alternative Music

I am almost 60 years old, and maybe because I come from a very musical family, or maybe because I spent most of my children's formative years in a car with the radio blasting, or maybe because I was immersed in the culture of the 60's, I still listen to music that is current in this day and age, which in this case is labeled "Adult Alternative". Try Channel 22 or 26 on XM Radio.

I suggest that any person my age with any longing for new and good music that doesn't sound like a warmed over version of what used to make our generation tick, try to listen to this gendre. It has filled a huge "hole in my soul", and, yes I used to like Aerosmith. I am lucky that my kids, who are very successful adults in their 30's, have kept me in touch with this "new' gendre.

For those of you new to the control of your own radio, or XM, ITunes, etc., try Dave Matthews, Lifehouse, Coldplay, Train, Linkin Park, Five for Fighting, The Fray, Green Day, Evanescense, Pink, and yes, Kelly Clarkson for starters.
