Florida Sales Tax & N. Carolina Furniture Purchases

Have you ever been tempted to buy furniture from North Carolina or online?

If an out-of-state furniture dealer fails to collect sales tax, it is your responsibility to understand and comply with Florida law. You must submit the tax directly to the Florida Department of Revenue using a form DR-15MO. Section 212.06(8) of the Florida Statues outlines this law. For more information, call 1-800-352-3671.
When your furniture crosses state lines, it carries a bill of lading which is inspected at weigh stations all up and down the highway system. That information also includes the sales tax either paid or unpaid. The amount due is determined by the sales tax rate at the furniture's final destination. Don't wait to get caught by the state, penalties and interest will accrue from the time of delivery.
